Connecting Fashion and Jewelry Trends

Jewelry has always gone hand-in-hand with fashion. It can make a fashion statement all on its own, or act as a subtle accessory that enhances an overall outfit.  But just how closely related are the trends between jewelry and apparel fashion?  That’s the question that we deal with when choosing what types and styles of new jewelry to bring to our customers.

Our jewelry designer and buyers use the latest trends in fashion as a guideline in creating and selecting new pieces for our collection.  For example, the latest and greatest in apparel tells us what colors, silhouettes, necklines, patterns and materials people are flocking towards at the moment.  The tricky part with this is that these trends don’t translate directly over to jewelry. Take lace, for instance. Lace has become hugely popular, dominating the runway and fashion magazines with its elegant, delicate look.  But rather than creating jewelry that completely imitates the pattern and look of lace, we turn towards jewelry that will complement this high-fashion look. This means bringing back the classic pearl necklace, or showcasing graceful, lightweight Italian gold jewelry that would add a subtle, chic touch to a lace-detailed blouse or top. Our jewelry designer, Katherine, has an amazing eye for putting together these looks and deciding which direction to go in with our latest jewelry.

Lace is just one example of a style that inspires us; we use all different trends to keep our jewelry up-to-date, fashionable and fabulous. If certain necklines or colors are all the rage, we choose pieces that perfectly complement those looks. Whatever the look is at the moment, we’re always right there on top of it finding and creating jewelry that makes it work. It may be a challenge, but it sure is exciting keeping up with the ever-changing fashion world!
